THE BRIDGE GALLERY

OPEN CALL: PROJECTION MAPPING

Submission Deadline - August 5 2026

In conjunction with “The Roots: Origins of Singapore Contemporary” — TBG Inaugural Exhibition,
Aug 9–25, 2026

Situated in the heart of Singapore's historic and vibrant Kampong Glam district, The Bridge Gallery (TBG) — A Creative Space by Blu Jaz and METAMO Industries — is transforming the streets of Haji Lane into a dynamic digital canvas.

To mark the opening of TBG and its inaugural exhibition, “The Roots: Origins of Singapore Contemporary,” we are activating our 7m x 4.8m exterior wall and inviting visual artists, animators, and digital creators to showcase short looping work alongside the exhibition. This first open call is intentionally low-barrier and fast-turnaround: we want to share this moment with as wide a range of grassroots and subcultural talent as possible — no jury, no competition. If your work fits the theme and guidelines, it gets shown.

ORIGINS OF SINGAPORE CONTEMPORARY

Inaugural Exhibition Marks the Official Opening of The Bridge Gallery

SINGAPORE — Celebrating the official opening of The Bridge Gallery (TBG), this

inaugural group exhibition unites 14 pivotal Singaporean and Singapore-based

artists under the central theme of 'The Roots'. The exhibition, officially titled "The

Roots: Origins of Singapore Contemporary," will run from August 6th to August

23rd, 2026. We are profoundly honored to have these 14 local artists celebrating

this momentous opportunity together, establishing a powerful, mutually

beneficial ecosystem for the district.

Curatorial Vision: The Foundation of Marginal Art

Every culture is anchored by its roots, and this showcase challenges the

participating artists to excavate their origins on multiple fronts. By looking deeply

into each artist's personal roots—whether exploring their heritage or the genesis

of their chosen mediums—we will collectively build a definitive perspective of

contemporary street and subcultural art. By displaying these unfiltered

discoveries, this exhibition elevates the pulse of the underground into a definitive

cultural statement, championing the 'marginal art' that forms the true, vital

foundation of our city's creative ecosystem.

THE EVOLUTIONARY LEAP

We do not need art to survive.

We need it to transcend.

For forty millennia,

it has been the mind’s greatest leap

— our ultimate way to play with the universe.

We live in a fractured age.

Power manufactures division.

Conduits of hope become reservoirs of rage.

When our foundations diverge,

our differences feel like unbridgeable chasms.

But art is the catalyst.

This gallery bridges cultures and mediums,

merging physical and digital worlds

into a living community of artists.

It is a network dissolving the borders

between the pristine gallery system and the raw street.

True culture cannot be mass-produced.

It must be fiercely nurtured.

It takes time.

It takes root.

By elevating the grassroots energy of our subcultures,

we are forging the authentic soul of Singapore

and South East Asia.

Differences are not barriers;

they are the foundations for new connections.

We bridge the artist to the community.

We bridge opposing cultures into a shared reality.

Art is the bridge between us.
